Anushka Sharma is an Indian film actress and producer. She has established a career in Hindi cinema,and is one of the most popular actresses in India. She has received one Filmfare Award from six nominations.Born in Ayodhya and raised in Bangalore, Sharma had her first modelling assignment for the fashion designer Wendell Rodricks in 2007 and later moved to Mumbai to pursue a full-time career as a model. Following an audition at Yash Raj Films, she made her screen debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), for which she received her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress nomination. The sleeper hit Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) marked a turning point in her career, earning her praise and several accolades.In 2012, Sharma won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for portraying a documentary filmmaker in the Yash Chopra-directed romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan. She had her biggest commercial success with the role of a television reporter in the fantasy drama PK (2014), which ranks as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time. In 2015, she starred and co-produced the crime thriller NH10, which garnered her critical acclaim, and appeared alongside an ensemble cast in the comedy-drama Dil Dhadakne Do.n 2012, Sharma played a supporting role alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in Yash Chopra’s “swan song”, the romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which marked her fifth collaboration with Yash Raj Films and her second with Khanthen appeared in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (2013), a political satire set in a village in Haryana. Co-starring alongsidePankaj Kapur, Imran Khan and Shabana Azmi After an absence of nearly two years from the screen, Sharma portrayed Jagat “Jaggu” Janini, a television journalist who befriends an alien, in Rajkumar Hirani’s religious satire PK. As of May 2016, Sharma has completed work on Ali Abbas Zafar’s sports drama Sultan opposite Salman Khan. She is simultaneously filming Karan Johar’s romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and her next production venture entitled Phillauri, a romantic comedy featuring Sharma alongside Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma
